Bauxite ╨ with some processed alumina ╨ is a major export. Since 1983, economic recovery policies have raised the GNP 5% a year.
Weaknesses
High budget deficits and debt repayments; the cedi was devalued in 1983 and has since tended to float downwards. Foreign investors generally invest solely in gold mining. Many loss-making state enterprises.
